Act I
The thunderstorm drums
Against my bedroom
Window and I can feel
The dog shivering at
My numb shivering feet
And I’m not sure who
To blame for the wet
Spot that surrounds me
In my Tinkerbell bed.
Act II
It’s my ninth birthday
And the dog runs away
As my pony-tailed friend
Tries to squeeze a blue
Hannah Montana vest
On him.
Act III
He broke my heart eight
Minutes ago and my
Kitchen floor is sprinkled
With tears and chocolate
Fudge brownie ice cream.
You lunge for the leftovers
And I shield you away
Only to find you were
Aiming for my tears.
Act IV
The infinite shades of
metal and blue blur in
The tears that swell my
Vision. I struggle to
Regain composure only
In knowledge of a last
Chance to capture your
Sweet old puppy gaze.
